The heritage buildings of UMass Boston vary widely in style, scale, and function, but needed a cohesive wayfinding system to navigate the sometimes knotty hallways and overall campus. OverUnder designed a standard sign panel that could accommodate a variety of information—floor number, wayfinding directions, mini orientation map—and that could easily be tiled for more complex needs. Using UMB's "Beacon Blue" as a base color helps unify signs across campus, and is the perfect balance of highly legible and relatively discreet.
Building directories and a campus map were drawn from scratch to ensure compatibility with the new sign system and to maximize their usability.
