The North Project represents a substantial new community for the Jordanian city of Aqaba. The 133-acre development is intended to attract middle income residents who have not yet been targeted at this scale of development, with an emphasis on promoting healthy living. Working closely with the client and the master planner (Utile), OverUnder produced a series of guidelines for the various scales of development that were intended to allow individual parcel owners to produce an architecture that was both modest and elegant — compatible with the local vernacular in terms of scale and material, but contemporary in terms of detailing and character.
